- The Staff's decisions are law. If a Staff member points out an issue with the way you have posted a species, or perhaps you haven't met the minimum amount of words for a post on GM, or maybe you God-Modded someone...whether or not it was on accident, if a Staff member points it out, that means you fix it. End of story.
Failure to do so, or arguing with the Staff member will result in a temporary ban from the site. Permanent ban will be brought about if you come back and still don't heed the Staff member's words. - GM has a site minimum word number for posts. The site minimum?
300 words...easy peasy!
We understand if there isn't a ton of information to go off of and some of your posts here or there fluctuate beneath the 300 word minimum, and as long as they are no more than 50 words short, you will be fine. We only ask that you don't make it a constant that you post under the minimum, otherwise we'll have to ask you to start posting the minimum always, and if you don't, we will be forced to quarantine your posts so that they can be proof read and made sure that they meet the site minimum word amount before they are allowed to be posted. - God-modding is forbidden. Unless agreed upon by the member you are threading with before your post is submitted, God-modding another member is completely and utterly forbidden and will result in heavy consequences if reported.
Don't understand what God-modding is? God-modding is the act of forcing another person's character to react or act a certain way that they did not agree nor decide upon. Basically taking their character's actions in your own hands, which is not only frustrating but rude as well. You should never tell someone how to write their character, nor try and 'guide' them or force them to write them in any way that they have not decided upon.
Have a problem with the way another member is writing a species? Let the Guru over that species know via a private PM or message. They will then go over the posts pertaining to the issues and will make a ruling about the situation. Once a ruling is made, the Guru will discuss it with the writer and will find a way to fix the issues.
Rely on your Gurus, they are here to help you. - This is a medium to advanced site. This means that we expect our members to have good grammar practices, and know how to spell words correctly, or at least use a spell checker...hey, we even provide one for you free of charge! We understand that not everyone is perfect at grammar and spelling, we mess up too, but everyone should at least try.
Failure to make sure that your post is legible for others will result in it being requested to be taken down and re-written. If you refuse or don't heed the Staff's request, the post will be saved and removed, the point deducted, and your accounts will all be set to quarantine so that your species Guru will need to proof read your every post before they will be allowed to be submitted. - Activity requirements for normal members. Each member is required to post once per week per character per each thread the character is in. What does this mean?
A simple math lesson: Say you have three characters that are each in three threads. That equals out to nine threads total. That means you need to post nine times in one week to meet your activity requirements. The more characters and threads you take on? The more work you have to do. Keep that in mind.
Failure to keep up with activity requirements four weeks running (without a posted MIA) will result in having the least active characters shelved.
If you are unable to meet your activity requirements because the people you are posting with aren't meeting their's, they will be messaged as you were and given a short duration in which to finish their owed posts. If they do not, we will shelf their character(s) and you will need to find some other threads to be a part of. - Activity requirements for leadership holding members. Leadership members are required to post the normal once per week per character per thread as normal members are, but if a thread is their species' group thread, or they are doing anything leadership wise such as networking or making an alliance, they must post in that thread twice per week, along with the once per week for each other normal thread.
Failure to do so for three running weeks will result in the leadership position being taken away. After four weeks of inactivity the character will be forcefully shelved and the member will be unable to hold another leadership position for six months. - Group thread etiquette. In the interest of keeping group threads fun and fast paced instead of becoming tedious and monotonous, we require each member participating in a group thread to post once per three days.
Failure to do so without a valid MIA posted will result in your character being skipped and pushed out of the group thread as if they up and left without giving a reason.
We realize RL comes first and can be busy, but it really sucks to have to wait an endless amount of time for many people to post, causing group threads to span months instead of the mere weeks that they should to furthur the plot of characters and the site as a whole.
It is also required that when in a group thread, there is a strict posting order that isn't broken unless in the case of skipping an inactive member. If there are three people in a thread, Sally, Bob, and John, Sally would go first, then Bob, and then John. Once that round is finished, the next round would start with Sally once again, and so on and so forth.
The only time post order can be broken is in the case of groups of people sectioning off into smaller groups, not interacting with one another. There is no reason to wait on people to post with whom your character isn't interacting with. Just keep in mind the new posting order with your smaller group. - MIA etiquette with posting. It is your responsibility as a member to post your MIAs promptly when sudden life things happen. It is also your responsibility that if you know you are going to be gone for an unknown amount of time, that you excuse yourself from threads via role play on your next turn so that others aren't waiting on you to post and not meeting their own activity requirements.
If by some chance you cannot get online to post out an exit, it would be a good idea to contact someone on the site that you know, letting them know what is going on so that they may post your MIA for you, and let others know that your threads will be moved to inactive until such a time comes that you can pick them back up again.
We do understand RL and that sometimes you just can't get a message out, and we will take that into consideration the first time it happens. If it keeps happening, we will be forced to archive your characters and threads. - NPCing shelved or deleted characters. If a member has shelved a character due to whatever reasoning and they give a person permission to NPC their shelved character, that is completely fine. If no permission was given, then it is against site rules to NPC that shelved character.
In the event of character deletion whether from a banned member, or a member that has simply left, only a Staff member is allowed to NPC that deleted character however they see fit to align it with the current site plot. There may be mentioning from other members about that character in passing, but nothing going against what the Staff has laid out for what has happened to that character.
The Staff of Guilty Misdemeanors reserves the right to alter, change, remove, and/or add to the rules at any point in time. We will always inform the site via PM or Update thread of any changes, failure to know these changes is not an option.
